How to Play Pitchle
Pitchle is a daily musical puzzle that tests your listening skills. Instead of guessing a word, you listen to a short melody and try to identify the sequence of notes using your ears.
The Goal
Your goal is to correctly guess the sequence of musical notes that make up the daily melody. Listen carefully and use your understanding of pitch relationships to determine the notes.
Each day there is one new puzzle, and everyone hears the same melody.
How It Works
- Listen to the melody by pressing the play button.
- Enter the notes you believe you heard.
- Submit your guess to see how close you are.
- You have a limited number of guesses to solve the puzzle.
Understanding Feedback
After each guess, the game will show you which notes are correct and how close your guess is to the melody.
Correct Note — The note exists in the melody.
Correct Position — The note is in the right place.
Hints
If you are stuck, you can visit the hint page where you may reveal the first sound of the melody. This small clue can help you anchor the tonal center and figure out the remaining notes.
Daily Puzzle
A new Pitchle puzzle is released every day at midnight based on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). All players receive the same melody each day, making it possible to compare results with friends and other musicians around the world.
Why Ear Training Matters
Ear training helps musicians recognize intervals, melodies, and harmonic relationships. Developing strong listening skills allows musicians to learn music faster, improvise more confidently, and understand what they hear.
Pitchle turns ear training into a fun daily habit that gradually strengthens your musical hearing.
Tips for Solving Pitchle
- Listen to the melody several times before guessing.
- Try to identify the first note.
- Pay attention to whether the melody moves up or down.
- Think in intervals rather than isolated notes.
- Use the hint page if you are completely stuck.
